First in the PH: Globe utilizes uHoo technology in monitoring indoor air quality and employee health in the workplace
Digital solutions platform Globe and uHoo, a Philippine climate-tech scale-up that developed the world’s most comprehensive indoor environmental monitoring and management system for homes and commercial facilities, have partnered in making The Globe Tower the first building in the Philippines to have 24/7 real-time environmental and coronavirus risk monitoring and management on almost every floor of its facility.
Understanding the importance of establishing greener builds to manage health and environmental impacts, Globe is utilizing uHoo’s technology to enhance its workplace operations. Both are working on common strategies focused on better well-being, reduction of carbon emissions and advancing ESG performance.
Maintaining Globe employees’ health and safety
With uHoo’s technology, the facilities team of Globe is able to monitor the 13 environmental parameters listed below plus the uHoo Virus Index.
- Temperature
- Humidity
- Air pressure
- Carbon dioxide
- Various particles sizes (PM1, PM2.5, PM4 and PM10)
- Various types of airborne chemicals (VOCs, Carbon Monoxide, and Formaldehyde)
- Luminosity
- Sound
These are monitored real-time via the uHoo dashboard which they can access through their computers or on the uHoo app on mobile. Its accessibility and capabilities allow Globe to be more proactive in ensuring that the tower is safe through proper ventilation and air control, keeping in mind the actual human traffic within the building.
Studies have shown that ventilation and air filtration can minimize the risks of virus survival and transmission, including the coronavirus, bringing trust and peace of mind to the building’s occupants.
How uHoo contributes to Globe’s Climate Action Agenda
Office buildings consume great amounts of electricity, making them one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. With the data received through the uHoo dashboard, the Globe team can identify which areas of the building are over-cooled, overlit, and with suboptimal environments —allowing them to make necessary adjustments that lead to better energy use and a more comfortable workplace environment.
The adoption of this technology enables smarter building management resulting not only in energy savings, but also to lower greenhouse gas emissions and reduced carbon footprint – making the entire building operations future-proof, sustainable, and climate resilient.
Innovation anchored on ESG
In today’s landscape, measuring Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance is essential to attract investments and to increase a firm’s market value. According to a study by Fitwel, 89% of firms around the world are incorporating health and wellness into their ESG strategies. Indoor air quality is one of the top three metrics that firms track to enhance and define health and wellness initiatives for their organizations. Healthy indoor air is the new minimum for buildings and workplaces.
Globe puts emphasis on the importance of addressing ESG with the incorporation of innovative tech-enabled solutions like uHoo.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Globe in bringing the benefits of health, safety and sustainability to the people at the Globe Tower.” Dustin Jefferson Onghanseng, uHoo CEO and Co-Founder stated. uHoo, whose technology is being used by corporations and governments across 30+ countries, continues to enhance its technology and platform to make clean, breathable air accessible for everyone; permitting people to take control of what they breathe and create healthier and more sustainable homes and buildings.
“As a company, we take the responsibility of operating sustainably seriously,” shared Raymond Aguilar, Globe’s Corporate Management Head. “We understand that the call to respond to climate change cannot be answered alone, which is why we see our partnership with uHoo as integral in helping us put into practice the use of greener technology in our own camps.”
By leveraging both companies’ collective strengths and their shared commitment to sustainable business practices, both organizations are confident that this partnership will empower Globe to advance its ESG performance, as well as generate key data points that can guide both companies in taking part in the global initiative for climate action.
