Smart Infinity enables subscribers to give back

PLDT’s wireless arm Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), through its revitalized premium postpaid brand Smart Infinity, is enabling its subscribers to support advocacies close to their hearts, on top of providing them access to unlimited data, including 4G and 5G,  an enhanced customer care experience and a revitalized suite of perks and privileges.

Through the PLDT-Smart Foundation, Smart Infinity subscribers can donate to advocacies focused on rebuilding communities, post-pandemic, and ensuring quality education and safety of children, such as Smart’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs School-in-a-Bag and Buy Local campaign. The platform also gives Smart Infinity subscribers the opportunity to boost the country’s COVID-19 and disaster response, combat online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC) and uphold children’s rights.

The School-in-a-Bag is designed to provide access to technology, connectivity, content, and a disaster-resilient pedagogy even for schools in remote areas without electricity. Each water-resistant backpack carries a laptop and pocket WiFi for the teacher and 10 tablets for the students, all pre-loaded with interactive, multimedia content accessible even if offline. Meanwhile, the “Buy Local, Buy Smart” initiative encourages employees of PLDT, Smart, and their sister companies to buy produce directly from local farming communities. Smart is also building a culture of disaster resilience among communities with its #SafePH campaign. Smart’s Better Today for Kids program, on the other hand, is also collaborating with various non-government organizations to support the national response to the growing OSAEC cases in barangays identified to be at most risk for OSAEC in Pampanga, Metro Manila, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, and Iligan City.

“We recognize our role in overall nation-building.  Aside from enabling Filipinos to thrive in their own digital transformation, we empower change.  We are in the best position to instigate goodwill that inspires positive actions,” says Alfredo S. Panlilio, PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications President and CEO.

“We encourage our Smart Infinity customers to get involved by joining us in making the world a better place through programs that inspire purpose, like our recent “Live Smarter for a Better World” campaign where we showed how simple and easy it can be to live a smarter yet meaningful life that betters the world,” he added.

Sofia Borromeo-Alvarez, Smart Infinity AVP and Brand Head, underscored the importance of empowering subscribers so they can make an impact in their communities through their advocacies. “Smart Infinity gives its members the power to be changemakers and become part of the brand’s advocacy story. Through Smart Infinity’s partnerships with various organizations that initiate impactful changes in the lives of people, finding ways to donate to important causes now becomes easier and simpler for every changemaker,” she said.

To inspire change, Smart Infinity also unveiled its line-up of principled, passionate, and purpose-driven changemakers as the embodiment of the Smart Infinity lifestyle in a recent online event. These include world-class furniture designer and MovED Foundation supporter Kenneth Cobonpue; Stephanie Kienle Gonzalez of Philux Inc. who also supports WWF, Ayoko ng Plastik, and Habitat for Humanity; world-renowned accessory designer and local artisan’s evangelist Bea Valdes; and Len Cabili of Filip+Inna, who also supports the livelihoods of local artisans.

“As we all aspire to see a better future for all, Smart Infinity embraces its new role as the CEO of Change. The Change Executive Officer who is always driven by a vision of a better world, has the power to lead actions and mobilize communities and resources, basically walks the talk and influences those around us to start their own little changes, too,” says Jane J. Basas,  SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business at Smart.
