Class Is in Session: 2TinCans Brings School of Rock to Cebu

Get ready to turn up the volume! 2TinCans Philippines, Inc. proudly amps up Cebu’s theatre scene with School of Rock, the electrifying musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, roaring onto the stage this June. Based on the beloved 2003 film, this high-energy production smashes together heart, humor, and head-banging riffs in one unforgettable show about passion, purpose, and the power of music.

Helming the production is director Sarah Mae Enclona-Henderson, 2TinCans founder and Producing Artistic Director, with dynamic choreography by Vincent Paul Diez Gaton and powerhouse vocal coaching by Mikee Amagsila and Mario Alcoriza from the 2TinCans Theatre Company.

At its core, School of Rock is a celebration of rising talent. The cast features a spirited ensemble of musical theatre students from the 2TinCans Theatre Lab alongside seasoned company performers, showcasing the next generation of Cebuano artists rocking out on stage.

“This isn’t just a show — it’s a shout,” said Enclona-Henderson. “It’s about raising your voice, pushing boundaries, and saying yes to your wildest, weirdest, most wonderful self. It’s raw, real, and ridiculously fun — and we can’t wait for Cebu to see it.”

Taking the spotlight are young performers from this year’s first quarter musical theatre program: Fia Mikaele Cagulada, Arabella Yzarra Carbungco, Amanda Grace Yu, Patricia Grace Crago, Kasofia Loquez, Zaviel Beaux Suralta, Courtney Suzanne Encarnacion, Maria Morgana Gonzalodo, Aleesha Tabar, Sky Clemente, Ciara Baricuatro, Queenie Madonna Paras, Alden Patrick Manansala, Juliene Cardenas, Henrique Kristoffer Ong, and Joaquin Codilla.

Sharing the stage with them are 2TinCans Theatre Company members Grant Bacaltos, Zyra Dee, Vince Lopez, Dave Feril, Ghyllianne Dave Caballes, Mikee Amagsila, Mario Alcoriza, Sasha Isobel Chiong, Josh Andrino, and Judee Kriselle Rallos.

Featuring an original score with hits like “You’re in the Band,” “Stick It to the Man,” and “Teacher’s Pet,” School of Rock boasts music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Glenn Slater, and a book by Julian Fellowes. Based on the screenplay by Mike White, this amateur production is presented by arrangement with The Really Useful Group Ltd.

Whether you’re a longtime theatre fan or new to the scene, School of Rock is a feel-good, family-friendly show with big laughs, big heart, and even bigger guitar solos.

Catch the performances on June 28 and 29, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Dr. Ronald R. Duterte Theater, University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), Lahug Campus.
