As part of its overall goal of enabling inclusive prosperity in the country, Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) supports the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in its initiative to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), particularly Indigenous People (IPs), by allowing them to digitize and bring their artisanal products to more customers online amid the current pandemic through the National Arts and Crafts Fair (NACF) Artisanal Shop.
The NACF Artisanal Shop is a project of the DTI’s Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion (DTI-BDTP) with the support of the DTI Regional and Provincial Offices and in partnership with CustomMade Crafts Center, Inc. (CMCC). Powered by UnionBank’s GlobalLinker, the project aims to showcase the finest collection of authentic heritage crafts by the IPs, local weavers, and artisans from 17 community-partners from all over the Philippines.
Leveraging GlobalLinker’s innovative features and expansive global network, the NACF Artisanal Shop will make it easier for artisanal entrepreneurs in the country to bring their products to more customers within and outside the Philippines, which will help them open new opportunities to grow their business.
“With our 2025 vision of a more inclusive and prosperous Philippines, the online NACF Artisanal Shop will give broader market access both locally and globally to the products of our artisanal communities. This, in turn, will create employment opportunities that will provide decent income for our people and support our poverty alleviation efforts,” said DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez.
“Supporting MSMEs has always been one of the biggest advocacies of UnionBank. Through this initiative, we hope that we are able to help our artisanal entrepreneurs to not just adapt to the ever-growing online shopping market, but to also broaden their horizons when it comes to selling their products,” said Jaypee Soliman, UnionBank’s SME Segment and Platforms Head.
GlobalLinker is UnionBank’s all-in-one platform designed to help entrepreneurs digitize their businesses. It gives them access to a wide selection of user-friendly features that can help them establish their very own online stores. In addition, the platform gives them access to a global network of entrepreneurs, service providers, and customers, giving them a platform in the global digital economy.
