SM CITY BAGUIO WINS GOLD AND SILVER STEVIE® AWARD IN 2020 ASIA-PACIFIC STEVIE AWARDS

SM City Baguio received two awards in the seventh annual Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards held in a virtual award ceremony on 22 September 2020. SM City Baguio accepted the Gold Stevie® Award in the Innovation in Energy & Sustainability category for their Greening Project and a Silver Stevie® Award in the Innovation in Entertainment Events category for their Experience the Cordilleras project.

More than 1,000 nominations from organizations across the Asia-Pacific region were considered this year in categories such as Award for Excellence in Innovation in Products & Services, Award for Innovative Management, and Award for Innovation in Corporate Websites, among many others. SM City Baguio won Gold in the Innovation in Energy & Sustainability category and Silver in the Innovation in Entertainment Events.

For the Greening Project, SM City Baguio actively participated in the tree planting activities in the different areas in Baguio City. To date, SM City Baguio has already planted or donated 411,531 tree saplings. In order to update the surrounding communities, SM City Baguio launched an information and education campaign. This involved on-ground and online programs such as photo exhibits of previous several tree planting projects, outdoor and indoor infographic panels, trash to cash events, project seed and partnered with Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) with their Arbor Day celebration.

The “Experience the Cordilleras” is a mall-wide marketing campaign of SM City Baguio that aims to continue advocating the rich culture and history of the Cordilleras to both local and foreign tourists. This is in order to encourage a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Cordilleras and to let them enjoy their ultimate mall experience. The campaign embodies a rounded method in communicating the best of the Cordilleras through different segments such as the Experience Panagbenga Fun, Experience Ube x Strawberry Fun, Experience Cordillera Fun, and Experience Holiday Fun. Each segment is filled with events and happenings that include experiential activities with food, art, history, fashion, culture, and many more for mallgoers. This project has also won the bronze award from the prestigious Asia Pacific Tambuli Awards 2018.

“We are delighted that the seventh edition of the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards attracted so many impressive nominations,” said Stevie Awards president Maggie Gallagher.  “This year’s winning nominations are testament to the resiliency and innovation of organizations in the region, many of which continue to succeed despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Although we are disappointed that we cannot stage the in-person awards banquet we had planned for Hanoi, Vietnam this year, we look forward to celebrating many of this year’s winners during our virtual awards ceremony on 22 September.”

Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie Award winners were determined by the average scores of more than 100 executives around the world acting as judges in May and June.
